After discussing your project with the Executive Director and receiving an invitation to apply, prepare a succinct application of no more than 10 pages. The application applies to all requests to the Foundation which are primarily the education of children 0-5 years old, teacher education, infant/toddler well-being, professional and curricular development and advancement of a complementary public and private preschool system in Hawaii.
Application Requirements
1. Cover Letter (1 page)
A signed letter from the director or authorized representative that briefly states:
- Who they are
- What they are requesting
- Why the project matters
- Amount requested
- How the request will further Castle Foundation goals for young children and Hawaii
2. Executive Summary (1 page)
A concise overview including:
- Mission and population served
- The need or opportunity addressed
- The proposed project
- Expected outcomes
- Why support is timely and needs to happen now
3. Full Project Description (3-4 pages)
A more, detailed narrative covering:
- How the communities served have had a voice in creating the project
- Background and context
- Statement of need
- Project goals and objectives
- Activities and timeline
- Staff or partners involved
- Expected impact, how it will be measured, and how final results will be communicated to the trustees
- Sustainability or next steps
4. Recent Organizational Financial Statement (1-2 pages)
Provide the most recent:
- Audited financial statement or
- Unaudited year-end statement or
- Current operating budget with year-to-date actuals
5. Project Budget (1 page)
- A clear budget showing:
- Total project cost
- Amount requested from your foundation
- Other confirmed or pending funding sources
- Key expense categories
6. List of Directors or Trustees (1 page)
Include:
- Names
- Roles
- Affiliations (if applicable)
